Options
Pumps
Model FWT1-AH
The basic unit has a combined Air or Hand-operated pump. For most applications this is the best option. In the air-operated mode, the tests can be completed rapidly. In the hand-operated mode, the operator has absolute control of the operation. The test stops immediately if the operator stops pumping. This is the safest mode for students who might be allowed to conduct unsupervised testing. For air operation, the user must provide a regulator/filter/lubricator for the air source to be used.
Model FWT1-E
The Electric pump option also allows for rapid operation, but without the need for an air supply. The pump runs on 120 vac. Operation is somewhat more complicated because two valves are used, instead of just one, as used on the -AH option. A hand pendent is used to control the pump motor. For safety, release of the “on” button shuts the pump off immediately.
Gauges
The liquid-filled hydraulic gauge can be used as a reference to compare test results. However, this is not a requirement of ASME or AWS codes. Evaluation of the results in these and other codes is by visual examination only. The best result is when the weld does not break and the specimen bends flat upon itself. However, even if the weld breaks, the test may be a success if the internal weld quality meets the code requirements.Guards
Front
The vertical, sliding Safety Guard is provided as standard equipment. To bring the guard into position in front of the test space, the operator merely lifts the light-weight aluminum frame. Two racheting latches prevent the frame from falling back down. When a test is complete, the operator can release the latches and guide the guard down in order to access the test space again.
Rear
An optional rear guard, identical to the standard front guard, is available. This guard allows bystanders to safely view the testing process from the rear of the press.
FILLET WELD TESTERS
Each Fillet Weld Tester comes with a front, sliding Safety Guard as standard.
